If you are a new resident to the island or have plans to be here for a longer period of time, we would love to have you as a volunteer on any of these worthwhile Chapel Committees. Our Chapel staff will happily send on your request to the appropriate Chairperson.
The Wedding Guild - The members of this volunteer Committee represent the Chapel at weddings and other ceremonies conducted at the Chapel and their rehearsals, and ensure that the Chapel’s policies and procedures are followed.
The Altar Guild/Memorial Garden Committee - This volunteer Committee assists the minister with worship services, baptisms and memorial services in the Memorial Garden. Members also ensure that supplies are available on the alter table and for the minister.
Building and Grounds Committee – The Chairman and members of this volunteer Committee are responsible for the oversight of maintenance and repairs of the Chapel, the Chapel’s condominium located at Royal James, its furnishings and the Chapel grounds.
Hospitality Committee - Members of this volunteer Committee staff Chapel events as needed, including regular Sunday services (Seat and Greet volunteers), special services, Chapel-sponsored social events and any event where assistance might be requested.
Outreach Committee - This volunteer Committee is charged with recommending to the Board both on- island and mainland service projects for numerous Brunswick County charitable organizations. If necessary, this committee organizes Bible studies, prayer chains, meals and visitations and coordinates special island programs.
Special Events/Communication and Media – This volunteer Committee is responsible for promoting the Chapel and associated activities using its website, social media platforms, quarterly newsletter and other island communication assets.
Worship Committee – This standing Committee assists its Chairperson by preparing a list of ministers and determining those who will be preaching on each of the Sundays in the following year. The Committee works closely with the Music Committee as part of the worship service.
Music Committee – This standing Committee meets at least annually to review the Chapel’s ongoing musical performances; ascertains any new or ongoing musical needs or events; sets goals for music personnel and oversees the care and maintenance of the Chapel’s musical instruments.
